I think that Christopher T Davies, who set up the ctd.6 board that repwblic.informe.com is the successor of, deserves to have the first proper announcement on behalf of Cymru Rydd - since we are now encouraging people to come here. This is his most recent posting on ctd.6, about the demise of Cymru Rydd as a registered political party -

CYMRU RYDD-WELSH REPUBLICANS

Cymru Rydd, the Welsh Republican Party is to under go re-structure and develope into a pro-Cymric NGO fighting for a republican agenda in welsh politics, via Plaid. This will involve voluntary administration of the Party and negotiations are underway with the Electoral Commission.

The current Leadership of the Party is composed of Leader: Rev Christopher Trefor Davies, Treasurer Councillor Simon Gruffydd Foster and Nominating Officer: Glyn Cross.

A meeting of the New Cymru Rydd will take place at 7pm, Thursday 27th July 2007 at The Postgraduate Centre, Cardiff University Students Union park Place, Cardiff. Cymru. All Welcome.

Mr Stiwart ap Edwards of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg will be the guest speaker. We also hope to have representatives of the Liberation for Kernow Movement.

For security reasons if you wish to attend please contact Chris on the Party Mobile: 07794764794. Fe godwn ni eto!

For an agenda copy please email republicancomment@yahoo.co.uk

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

....and Dai ( me - David B Lawrence ) just had to ask -

How will the members of New Cymru Rydd disperse the funds of the Old Cymru Rydd ...? You're not going to give them to Plaid Cymru !!!

.....and Chris kindly replied -

Hi Dai,

No we will be using party funds in campaigning to promote Cymru Rydd's manifesto "The Road to Cymru" and "A Nation for Our Children"

Also, just to let you know that there's a social/ semi-business meeting coming up on Wednesday 8th August at The Owain Glyndwr Pub, central Cardiff at 7pm. (opposite St John's Church, The Hayes).

We have lots to discuss and it should be fun to catch up and relax whilst we discuss our response to the current situation in our beloved Cymru.

Please let me know if you'd like to come, or if you need further directions etc.

Best wishes, pob bendith

Chris

Christopher Trefor Davies, Mobile: 0779 476 4794
Leader, Cymry Rydd/Welsh Republicans
Fe godwn ni eto! We shall rise again!

Any comments on how the above meetings went and future activities. I was a member of Cymru Rydd but had to leave when I stood for Plaid.

"In a statement this month to members of Cymru Rydd Welsh Republicans, National Organiser Christopher Trefor Davies reported a remarkable success in the NGO's internet recrutiment drive since the launch of their online campaign in September 2007.

"The last eighteen months have far exceeded our expectations. Thanks to our firm republican stance in the face of Plaid's usual approach to the issue of independence, and the communication of this message via facebook, bebo, myspace and our branch websites, we have recruited a number of activists as well as obtained the attention of many interested ones. We have received many applications to attend this years Summer Camp. We are very please that we have been able to develop affirming relationships with the Karen peoples of Burma who are suffering under a fascist, evil Burmese regime.

The complete over reaction of the Crown Prosection Service towards our Operation COW Campaign (Charles Out of Wales) saw the issue of Llwynywormwood and second holiday homes transmitted across the English speaking world. Attempts by CPS lawyers to have our site administrators removed were completely dismissed, though several computers are still help by Crown forces. One set back was the use of Terrorist Legislative Orders to prevent our members entering Wales. This appalling abuse of Celtic rights is being monitored. [b] A WORD OF CAUTION : THIS 'COW' CAMPAIGN WAS NOT ENDORSED BY REPWBLIC - SEE Repwblic POST BELOW [b/]

He continued "Youth as well as other republicans can know for sure that Cymru Rydd is one politcal NGO that will never surrender the right of the people of Wales, to sovereignty over the land of Wales. As Ithel Davies, a candidate for the Welsh Republican Movement stated in 1949 "Wales is a nation and her sovereignty lies in herself and in the werin bobl, the common people".

"The future for Cymru Rydd is bright. We have much work to do. Let's get busy."

Dear Fluffy,

- nice of you to visit ! You'll appreciate that I decided to stick to the rules of Open Conspiracy and let everything hang out here so that the allegation of conspiracy can never stick - hence I'm unwilling to join up to anything that cannot be directly examined by any interested party.

For the sake of those who don't care for the Open Conspiracy, what web sites / Yahoo groups etc are you running that they can join up for a thrill ?

What exactly happened this past two years or so to Cymru Rydd ?

( This is Dai acting in role of site administrator, coming back to tidy up because Fluffy aka Christopher T Davies posted the same item twice and I want to try to avoid multiple threads on similar topics ).

The 'press release' as posted is innocuous and doesn't deserve to end up in the sin bin / quarantine, but it mentions this COW campaign which in a roundabout way might have ended up there. For the uninitiated I feel that I have to give an explanation : Repwblic's origin lies in a bulletin board set up by C T Davies that he then neglected but caught my attention and I started writing on it because I objected to the material that I was finding there under the name 'Welsh Republican'. Some of it was vile and most of it was utterly ignorant of republicanism and as I wrote upon it I just hoped that somebody would return with the administration keys and tidy up, but CTD seems to have a tendancy of starting such things and then neglecting them and forgetting passwords etc and not being able to retrieve them because he does the same with email addresses. So, very labouriously, after Mike set up this Y Repwblic board I transferred stuff by hand to save some of it to start it off again...BUT

The BUT is that Cymru Rydd, whilst it had a number of members as a registered party and professed itself republican and still does as a more loosely allied group of people, has no real political theory and frankly is a bunch of individualists who share some personal prejudices. One of these is anti-monarchism, which ofcourse many republicans share, but what they do not share with republicans is a theory of civil rights. Some while back whilst discussing his 'republicanism' with CTD I brought up some of the basics of republican theory and he became excited when I mentioned the idea of a bill of human rights - this very basic republican idea was entirely new to him, and very soon Cymru Rydd was being billed as campaigning for 'Welsh' human rights. You will immediately notice that Charles Windsor is thereby excluded as are many other people and that ofcourse is the whole problem with nationalism. When CTD was partially disclosing to me that he intended to do something about Prince Charles I reminded him that it is the political system that we are attacking not the people and suggested that he should be treating Charles and Camilla as citizens ....I don't know the details but clearly he didn't listen, and nor does he have that brave republican attitude to principled law breaking that stoically accepts the consequences in order to make an example of himself to explain a political argument with a modest bit of martyrdom.

Yes, I did loose the code to the old CTD board- but I have to admit all that pornography did liven things up a bit. The good thing about that board however, is that its was free speech in action, whereas here somebody seems to be king.

The concept of a Bill of Rights is not new to me, I read consitutional law at Uni at degree level when I was 18.

Do I think Charles Windsor should should have rights under a Bill of Rights?

Well, I'd rather be more concerned about the rights of homeless people on the streets of our towns and cities in Wales: I would rather be concerned about the rights of people who are loosing their homes in the credit crunch ( as opposed to those who live in several palaces): I woud rather be concerned at the rising MRSA infections our elderly catch in public hospitals whilst the rich like Windsor and his clan have the best private treatment available. I see the fight for a Welsh Republic to be a struggle of class: the ordinary persons versus the billionaires who run Wales. I don't dismiss the suggestion the Windosr should be included in a Bill of Rights: I just dont want to fight for HIS rights: he has a civil service, an army and indeed a State, that's doing exactly that for him.

In terms of Cymru Rydd members starting things and then dropping them: this is true, because not everything takes off or catches peoples imagination. We're not going to apologise from trying though. And, if you read our press release above, we have been very successful, recruitng both here and abroad: a Summer Camp lined up: a prospective trip to Canada and continued involvement in local community issues. People can knock id they like ( at least they're not ignoring us), but since our inception our hard line republican stance has resulted in threats to John Humphries of imprisonment. He was brave. We wish to be brave.

Finally,we are nationalists. We believe that Cymru is an ancient nation and we see the future for her as as republic.
