The French restaurants in Cardiff rarely, if ever, hang out the flags for Bastille Day on the 14th July - but in 2011 one of them is going to do it, so we are talking about having a Bastille Day Dinner in this restaurant and making it a more public event, probably in the evening about 8pm to allow people to get here. The restaurant has already agreed to our bringing other tricolours along and we are having a telephone discussion this evening about whether we can knock up some short talks themed on the Welsh involvement in the events in and around the French Revolution.

To explain Bastille Day as an international celebration of republicanism, and to record the discussion as to whether we try to make this an event or just settle for a piss - up ... we will start a topic thread of some sort.
